About TurboTutors

Student-led tutoring built around access, personalization, and community.

Our Story

TurboTutors began in January 2024 when a group of high-school students in New Jersey came together around a simple goal: make individualized academic support easier for students to access.

We knew that sometimes a student does not need another textbook, prerecorded video, or generic explanation. They need someone who will listen to where they are stuck, explain the idea differently, and work through it with them.

That became the foundation of TurboTutors.

Today, our student tutors provide free virtual academic support across mathematics, science, computer science, English, social studies, and additional subjects based on tutor availability.

Our Mission

To make personalized academic support accessible to students through free, student-led tutoring.

We aim to help students strengthen both their understanding of individual subjects and their confidence as learners.

Our Values

Access

Academic support should not depend on whether a student can afford private tutoring. Cost should never determine who gets help.

Personalization

Different students get stuck in different places. Sessions should respond to the learner rather than follow a single, rigid script.

Understanding

Our goal is not to simply provide an answer. We want students to understand the reasoning behind it so they can apply it independently.

Community

Students who have benefited from learning can create opportunities for others to learn. That cycle of shared knowledge is at the heart of TurboTutors.

Fiscal Sponsorship

TurboTutors is fiscally sponsored by the Institute for Education, Research, and Scholarships (IFERS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our fiscal sponsorship supports the administration of charitable contributions made to advance TurboTutors' educational mission.

Fiscal sponsorship is an arrangement in which an existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization provides administrative and financial oversight for a project or initiative. Through this arrangement, charitable contributions supporting TurboTutors are administered through IFERS.

No donation is ever required to receive tutoring. Students access TurboTutors sessions at no cost regardless of whether the organization receives donations.
